"Tempest" follows Seo Moon-ju (Jun Ji-hyun), a UN ambassador with global clout, as she hunts the mastermind behind an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate. Tasked with protecting her is Baek San-ho (Gang Dong-won), a shadowy operative of unknown allegiance. Together, they collide with a truth big enough to shake the Korean Peninsula. On Sept. 3, the series dropped a tension-soaked ensemble poster and character videos hinting at an oncoming storm.
Against a blood-red Korean skyline, the poster gathers every key player in one frame, tightening the suspense. Moon-ju, determined to uncover the conspiracy, and San-ho, sworn to keep her alive, stand at the center as others with intersecting agendas lock eyes with steely resolve―fueling questions about the tempest awaiting them.
The tagline―“A Vast Conspiracy. One Truth. Back to Where It All Began.”―stokes intrigue about what’s really buried behind the plot and how Moon-ju and San-ho will carve their way to that single truth.

The character reel spotlights the show’s web of players, each sprinting toward the heart of the mystery.
U.S. State Department Assistant Secretary Anderson Miller (John Cho) dives in headfirst―“But this plan needs to be reviewed”―hinting at a threat that stretches far beyond Korea. Aseom Shipping chair Im Ok-seon (Lee Mi-sook) chills with ambition: “I’ll turn that girl into a single incident,” signaling her designs on making Moon-ju the next president―on her terms.
“There’s a lot I need to know,” says rising presidential contender Jang Jun-ik (Park Hae-joon), a seemingly golden-boy politician whose secrets invite suspicion. President Chae Kyung-shin (Kim Hae-sook) asserts, “I have my own agenda this term,” projecting a ruler’s poise and iron will to safeguard national security. And when National Intelligence Service Director Yoo Woon-hak (Yoo Jae-myung) pointedly asks, “Madam President, how much do you trust Seo Moon-ju?” the seeds of doubt are officially sown.
“I’m running in my brother’s stead,” declares sitting prosecutor Jang Jun-sang (Oh Jung-se), fanning the flames of a cutthroat power struggle at the very top. Ever at Moon-ju’s side, Yeo Mi-ji (Lee Sang-hee) vows, “I decided I’d follow you anywhere and have your back,” underscoring her unwavering loyalty. Rounding it out, Presidential Security Chief Park Chang-hee (Joo Jong-hyuk) throws up a red flag about San-ho―who appeared after the attack and insists he’s here to protect Moon-ju: “You want to hire someone when we don’t even know why he approached you?”
With an assassination attempt as the spark, "Tempest" maps a crackling network of loyalties and betrayals―setting the stage for a high-stakes political thriller.
The series unites writer Jung Seo-kyung ("Decision to Leave," "Little Women") with director Kim Hee-won ("Queen of Tears," "Vincenzo") and filmmaker Heo Myeong-haeng ("The Roundup: Punishment," "Badland Hunters"). After its three-episode premiere on Sept. 10, Disney+ will drop two episodes every Wednesday starting Sept. 17, for a total of nine episodes.
