Cha Tae-hyun Explains the Story Behind His '30,000-Won' Wedding Gift to Kim Jun-ho
Cha Tae-hyunActor Cha Tae-hyun has finally revealed why he slipped just 30,000 won into the gift envelope at his close friend Kim Jun-ho’s wedding.

On the September 2 episode of SBS’ "Invitation from Bachelor Again," Cha appeared as a guest alongside singer Kim Jong-min and Finnish TV personality Leo Ranta.

Host Lee Sang-min put him on the spot: “Did you really only give 30,000 won?” Kim Jun-ho jumped in: “While we were checking the envelopes, Ji-min read out the amounts next to me and said, ‘Cha Tae-hyun, 30,000 won.’ I looked, and sure enough―it was 30,000.” The studio wanted to know why he’d go that low for a best friend.

Cha explained, “On the way to the wedding, it just hit me. Weddings are stressful. I figured when they checked the envelopes later, they could use a laugh. Even I was cracking up as I wrote it.” In other words, the “30,000 won” was a cheeky bit.

Kim Jun-ho clarified, “He was very generous to Ji-min, too. She keeps saying, ‘Cha Tae-hyun is family.’”

Cha added that he got unexpectedly emotional at both Kim Jong-min and Kim Jun-ho’s ceremonies: “It was weird―I got choked up.” Then, with a grin, he teased, “I mean, these are guys we thought would never, ever get married,” drawing laughs all around.

He kept the jokes coming: “If I ever end up at Tak Jae-hoon’s wedding, I’ll probably cry,” he said. “I honestly thought I’d never get to go to that again,” leaving Tak momentarily flustered.
