Choi plays Kim Woo-joo, the fourth-generation successor to the heritage brand Myeongsundang and a rising star in its marketing division―aka born into bakery royalty. Through a high-stakes business tangle with Yoo Mary (played by Jung So-min), the head of creative agency Merry Design, he somehow ends up as her pretend husband, setting the stage for a deliciously chaotic ride.
On Sept. 4, the production unveiled first-look stills of Choi, dialing up anticipation. With a cool, unflinching gaze, he embodies Kim Woo-joo, the impeccably polished heir apparent.
The photos capture Woo-joo on his way back to Korea for full-on successor training, as well as his first days on the job as Myeongsundang’s marketing team leader. At the airport, he waits to board with a pensive expression―more burden than butterflies after a long stint abroad―his sharp eyes hinting at a no-nonsense streak.
Another still shows him running a strategy meeting, sleeves rolled up and focus locked in. Fresh off a successful run in the U.S., he exudes command the moment he takes the helm―pure “gets-things-done” energy from a boss who means business.
Known for his sunny charm in past rom-coms, Choi shifts gears here to a more polished, grown-man charisma. As expectations climb for his turn as the hyper-rational perfectionist Kim Woo-joo, fans are already wondering: what could possibly push this zero-defect heir into a fake marriage with Yoo Mary?
“We’re excited to show a new side of Choi Woo-shik through 'Would You Marry Me',” the producers tease. “Get ready for the irresistible appeal of a bakery-born heir―and for the series itself.”
"Would You Marry Me" will premiere on SBS in October, following "The Mantis: Original Sin."
