DANN (27), leader of K-pop boy group The KingDom, is stepping away to fulfill his mandatory military service.

GF Entertainment said on the 4th, “Thank you to all the fans who love The KingDom,” adding that while preparing the group’s next album, “DANN will enlist as an active-duty soldier in the Army on Sept. 9, earlier than planned, following guidance from the Military Manpower Administration.”

The time and location of his boot camp admission will remain private. The agency apologized for the sudden news and noted that The KingDom will continue promotions as a five-member lineup.

DANN serves as The KingDom’s leader as well as a rapper and vocalist. Before joining The KingDom, he promoted under his real name as a member of VARSITY. After that group disbanded in 2020, he re-debuted with The KingDom in February 2021.

GF Entertainment asked fans to send warm encouragement as DANN faithfully completes his service and returns in good health.

Meanwhile, The KingDom drew attention last year with its “History of Kingdom” album series, earning buzz for its expansive world-building and fantasy-driven concept.
