The war of words between rapper MC Mong and actress Lee Da-in is heating up, after a simple photo post snowballed into barbed comments about family ― and the internet is watching.
On Sept. 4, his birthday, MC Mong uploaded a throwback group shot to social media. In the frame were Lee Seung-gi and his wife Lee Da-in, Da-in’s sister Lee Yu-bi, and P_Arc Group chairman Cha Ga-won.
Lee Da-in pushed back, clarifying the photo was taken on July 18 of last year. “I don’t understand why he’d post a year-old photo now and make noise,” she wrote, sharing the original color image along with a timestamp.
MC Mong fired back almost immediately, reposting a zoomed-in shot of Lee and captioning it, “Stay in your lane.” He then escalated further with, “I wouldn’t abandon my family like you,” a remark that ignited a firestorm.
The jab struck a nerve because it touches on the couple’s much-scrutinized family situation. In April, Lee Seung-gi announced he had cut ties with his father-in-law after the latter was indicted over alleged illegal activity.

At the time, Lee said he was “devastated” by the indictment and declared he was severing relations with his in-laws. He also apologized to the public and those affected for previously defending his wife’s family.
MC Mong and Lee Seung-gi go back years, having bonded on KBS2’s hit variety show "2 Days & 1 Night." Until recently, MC Mong had been working closely with the One Hundred label and P_Arc Group’s Cha Ga-won, keeping up a friendly rapport with the couple. That relationship now appears badly strained.
With MC Mong’s split from Big Planet Made and rumblings of internal turmoil intersecting with the sensitive in-law controversy, tensions have boiled over. Fans are watching to see whether Lee Seung-gi and Lee Da-in issue an official statement ― and whether MC Mong has more to add.
