WJSN's DAYOUNG is set to make her solo debut on Sept. 9.
On Sept. 4, Starship Entertainment announced that DAYOUNG will drop her first digital single, 'gonna love me, right?,' kicking off a new chapter as a solo artist in her ninth year. A teaser released the same day hints at a bold reinvention.
The clip frames DAYOUNG and her dancers in stark car headlights, their silhouettes slicing through the darkness. Moody, dreamlike visuals spotlight a striking new side of the singer, before flashing the project title 'gonna love me, right?,' what appears to be a track called 'Body,' and the Sept. 9 release date.
DAYOUNG also popped up as a "Next Week" artist on Mnet’s M Countdown, signaling the start of her solo rollout.
With this first single, DAYOUNG aims to showcase her own sonic identity and performance style while broadening her footprint with a slate of multi-platform content.
Known for her bright, upbeat energy with WJSN and sub-unit Chocome, DAYOUNG has also built a multifaceted presence beyond music. Her solo YouTube series earned buzz for candid reviews and trend test-drives, cementing her rep as a Gen Z go-to and content ace. She’s also been tapped three times to host KBS1’s "Ajobter," further solidifying her status as a Gen Z favorite.
DAYOUNG’s first solo digital single, 'gonna love me, right?,' arrives Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. KST on major streaming platforms.
