Actor Yoo Ah-in popped up in a new candid.
On Sept. 3, DJ-producer Peggy Gou shared an Instagram Story that read, “Favorite director! Love you, Director Bong,” alongside a photo of herself with filmmaker Bong Joon-ho and Yoo Ah-in. While Gou’s star-studded circle is no surprise, it was Yoo’s bright grin beside Bong that stole the spotlight.
The sighting comes roughly two months after Yoo’s latest court proceedings. He pulled a cap low over his eyes, but his signature smile was hard to miss.
Yoo stood trial on charges that included the habitual use of the sedative propofol―181 instances between September 2020 and March 2022―by obtaining it under the guise of sedation for cosmetic procedures. He was also charged with illegally securing more than 1,100 prescription sleeping pills across 44 visits using another person’s name from May 2021 to August 2023, and with smoking marijuana in the United States last January and encouraging others to do so.
In September, a lower court sentenced him to one year in prison and took him into custody. In February, an appeals court reduced the penalty to a one-year sentence suspended for two years, and the Supreme Court later upheld the suspended term along with a 2 million won fine.
