On the Sept. 7 episode of SBS’s "My Little Old Boy", the father-son duo spent the day together, working out and catching up before Hoo heads back to the U.S. for school.
Hoo even cooked for his dad, whipping up “buldakgetti,” a spicy twist on the instant noodle mash-up he loved as a kid, and the two dug in together.
Over the meal, Yoon Min-soo admitted he was sad to see his son leave again. He gently prepared Hoo for what might be different next time he’s in Korea, telling him that he and Hoo’s mom could be living separately and that Hoo might have to choose where to stay.
Taken aback by the candid turn, Hoo said it was the first time they’d had that kind of conversation. Encouraging him to speak freely, Yoon pressed on and asked directly if Hoo would be okay with his parents no longer living together.
“I think I’m more okay than I thought,” Hoo replied, easing his dad’s worries. “I’ll handle things on my own. I’ll focus on school. I’m grown now, so it’s fine.”
Still, Yoon Min-soo couldn’t hide how much he’d miss his son. “I get bored without you,” he said, half-joking, half-sincere.
Hoo reassured him: “I’ll still hang out with you. I’ll live with Mom, and I’ll come over to your place to have fun―sleep at Mom’s, though.”
“That won’t do,” his dad teased back. “If you’re here late, you’re staying the night.”
Yoon also floated the idea of setting up a dedicated room for Hoo if he has his own place by the next visit. “What should it look like?” he asked. “How about a bar vibe―so your friends can come over, eat, and hang out? I’ll play bartender and even sing.”
“That actually sounds great,” Hoo said, playing along with good humor and poise that impressed viewers.
Elsewhere in the episode, the pair faced off in an arm-wrestling match and hit a karaoke room, and cameras captured Hoo’s behind-the-wheel training―another reminder of just how quickly he’s grown up.
