Gill, the rapper best known as half of hip-hop duo Leessang, is testing out his acting chops―and he’s got viewers doing a double take.
On Sept. 7, YouTube channel Beautiful Nerd dropped a new short from its series "In Search of Gen Z: Indieground," featuring Gill as "Assistant Manager Gill," an everyman office worker who delivers a raw, gutting portrait of a father’s love.
In one of the film’s most searing sequences, Gill witnesses his daughter, Gaeul, being bullied at school. He vows to get the names and handle it himself, but she pushes back―begging him not to step in if it’s only going to make things worse. The scene lands like a punch, channeling the helplessness so many families feel around school violence.
At work, he’s a different person: a timid employee tiptoeing around his boss, telling junior colleague Seung-gi that in office life, reading the room matters more than anything. The short nails the quiet defeat of corporate power games with unnerving precision.
When his daughter breaks down, he admits he can’t go that far―and so does he. The film closes on a tender line about how having just one person waiting for you can keep you going, with a wistful score that lingers long after the credits.

The collaboration with Beautiful Nerd―home to 1.38 million subscribers―sparked buzz immediately. It even nods to his beloved "Intern Gill" persona from "Infinite Challenge," reimagined here as "Assistant Manager Gill," blending sly humor with a surprisingly moving payoff.
