South Korea’s National Forensic Service has issued a preliminary autopsy finding indicating no signs of foul play in the death of YouTuber The Great Library (Na Dong-hyun).
According to the Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul, the NFS verbally relayed on the 8th that its initial examination found no evidence of homicide or criminal activity after Na was discovered deceased at his home. Police plan to close the case once the agency’s final autopsy report is filed.
Na had reportedly told people close to him that he’d been experiencing chest pain in recent days.
On Sept. 6, officers and fire officials conducted a welfare check at Na’s residence in Seoul’s Gwangjin-gu after a friend said they couldn’t reach him; he was found deceased at the scene. No note was recovered, and there were no indications of foul play at the location.
A pioneer of Korea’s early live-streaming scene, Na built a following of 1.44 million subscribers on YouTube and became a familiar face to the public through numerous TV show appearances.
A memorial has been set up at Room 205 of the funeral hall at Konkuk University Medical Center in Hwayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. The funeral is scheduled for 8 a.m. on Sept. 9.
His younger sister and ex-wife, fellow creator Yum-Cast, are listed as chief mourners. Na and Yum-Cast married in 2015 and announced an amicable divorce in 2023, saying they would continue to support each other as friends.
