Joo Myung has joined Phoenix United and will go head-to-head with FC Bulnabi on the Sept. 10 episode.
Phoenix United is an all-star squad made up of standout players from past seasons of “Kick a Goal.” In 2022, Joo Myung delivered near-pro-level play as a wild card for FC Wonder Women. Now, as part of Phoenix United, she’s poised to show even sharper form and win over viewers all over again.
Ahead of Phoenix United’s first broadcast match, she shared through her agency Companion Company on Sept. 8, “Because three years had passed, I approached it like starting from scratch. I’m so grateful to the fans who never forgot me, and I hope you have fun watching―we worked hard on this.”
“I only played soccer occasionally for fun, and last year I fractured a metatarsal in my right foot, so I couldn’t really train for about a year,” she continued. “To show my best after so long, I put in a lot of extra solo work beyond team practices. Three weeks after getting the metal pins removed, slipping on my futsal shoes was the toughest part―the pain at the incision was brutal.”
“It’s an honor to play on this legends team with my seniors,” she added. “As the youngest, I felt so supported―and that also pushed me to pull my weight. Many of them have been captains or key players, so they understand everyone’s challenges. They’re all business during practice, then quick to lift you up when it’s over.”
She also thanked head coach Choi Jin-cheol: “He guided us mentally and physically. Thanks to his careful, individualized approach, we got through a grueling two-week training period without injuries.”
“Kick a Goal” airs Sept. 10 at 9 p.m. KST.
