Tving Pulls 'Dear X' Poster After Plagiarism Uproar: "Use Halted Immediately"
Dear X Launch PosterTving has pulled the launch poster for its original series "Dear X" after social media buzzed with allegations it copied key visuals from a Chinese film.

The one-sheet dropped Sept. 8, but fans quickly drew comparisons to the poster for the 2017 Chinese movie "The Devotion of Suspect X." As the backlash grew, Tving issued an apology and promised to stop using the artwork.

“After recognizing the similarity to a specific reference, we immediately halted use of the "Dear X" launch poster and will not deploy it going forward,” the streamer said on Sept. 10.

“We sincerely apologize for not more carefully overseeing the production process,” Tving added. “We’ll strengthen our review protocols to prevent this from happening again.”

Based on the webtoon of the same name, "Dear X" follows Baek Ah-jin (played by Kim Yoo-jung), a woman who hides behind a mask to claw her way to the top―and the “Xs” she’s ruthlessly crushed along the way. The series also stars Kim Young-dae, Kim Do-hoon and Lee Yeol-eum, and premieres Nov. 6.
