Ahead of Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving), the World Vision ambassador made another meaningful gesture. On Sept. 16, World Vision shared that the star donated 50 million won to provide holiday gifts for children in residential care and to help create a dedicated relaxation space at their facility.
At the handover ceremony held at World Vision headquarters, Gong said, "I wanted the kids to spend a warm Chuseok and have a place where they can truly relax," adding, "I’ll continue to do what I can wherever help is needed." The nonprofit thanked him for his steady interest and support.
In line with his wishes, the donation will deliver festive gift packages to children in care and fund a remodel of the facility’s rooftop into a communal lounge where they can unwind and connect. Gong also plans to visit during the holiday break to volunteer alongside the kids, adding an extra dose of warmth to the season.
Gong’s partnership with World Vision began in 2024 through a campaign supporting youth living apart from their families. Appointed an official ambassador that May, he has continued to give in various ways, including a donation marking his 10th acting anniversary, support for a clean-water initiative in Bangladesh, and medical assistance for young adults preparing for independent living. In March, he joined SARAM Entertainment labelmates Jung Geon-joo, Choi Hee-jin, Yoon So-hee and Irene in a campaign aiding children affected by war, and more recently traveled to Uganda for on-the-ground volunteer work.
Known for championing kids at home and abroad, Gong’s consistent philanthropy is striking a chord―especially this holiday season, as he shares warmth when it matters most.
Meanwhile, Gong is winning over global audiences in the Netflix film "Love Untangled," playing enigmatic transfer student Han Yoon-seok with a singular blend of sensitivity and gravitas.
