Premiering Friday, Oct. 10 at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS, the rom-com tracks a 90-day sham newlywed arrangement as two strangers team up to snag a luxe “newlywed home” grand prize. Choi Woo-shik stars as Kim Woo-joo opposite rom-com favorite Jung So-min as Yoo Meri, promising crackling chemistry from the jump.
In the new clip released Thursday, fake spouses Woo-joo (Choi) and Meri (Jung) double down on the ruse ― matchy couple looks, nonstop PDA ― selling a chemistry that feels almost too real. Woo-joo, who initially shrugged off Meri’s proposal to be her pretend husband, suddenly sounds like the real deal: “Text me morning, noon, and night ― and once more before bed,” he says, laying down his four-a-day rule.
The butterflies don’t last long. Meri’s ex-fiance shows up ― and yes, he’s also named Kim Woo-joo (played by Seo Beom-jun) ― spiking the tension and shifting the dynamic. The teaser closes on a direct-hit confession from Choi’s Woo-joo: “Maybe it’s because I like you,” followed by the jealous admission, “I can’t stand seeing you with another guy.” Caught between an ex who wants another shot and the husband she’s not supposed to fall for, Meri faces a choice that promises maximum swoon ― and drama.
Expect Choi to bring cool, understated warmth to a stoic-turned-softie Woo-joo, while Jung charms as Meri, who serves swift payback to her cheating ex and turns a fake newlywed life dangerously real. With Seo Beom-jun playing the “unexpected Cupid,” this romance looks set to whirl.
"Would You Marry Me" is written by Lee Ha-na and directed by Song Hyun-wook and Hwang In-hyuk. The series premieres Oct. 10 on SBS.
