The Japanese anime feature “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Infinity Castle” has vaulted to No. 2 on Korea’s 2025 overall box office chart.

As of the 15th, the film has sold 5.42 million tickets, securing the year’s second-place spot in Korea, according to the Korean Film Council’s box office tracker.

The movie has kept its momentum since before opening, logging 2025’s biggest advance ticket sales, becoming the fastest release of the year to top 2 million admissions, and setting the year’s highest revenue to date.

It has also edged past buzz magnet “F1: The Movie” (5.2 million admissions) to claim No. 2, while closing in on chart-topper “My Daughter Is a Zombie” (5.62 million).

Among Japanese animated films released in Korea, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Infinity Castle” now ranks second, overtaking “The First Slam Dunk” (4.9 million). It’s trailing the No. 1 title “Suzume” (5.58 million) by roughly 160,000 tickets, putting a new all-time record within reach.

In Japan, the film has drawn 25.11 million moviegoers and grossed 36.4 billion yen as of Oct. 12, landing at No. 2 on the all-time domestic box office list. Paired with franchise predecessor “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Movie: Mugen Train” (40.7 billion yen), the series now holds both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, underscoring its staying power.

In North America, after a Sept. 12 opening, it took just seven days to become the territory’s top-grossing Japanese anime release ever. As of Oct. 12, it has earned $128.6 million, claiming the crown for the highest-grossing non-English-language title there and sustaining a global hot streak. On the worldwide chart, it sits at No. 5 overall, ahead of films like “How to Train Your Dragon” and “F1: The Movie.”

“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Infinity Castle” covers Chapter 1 of the climactic showdown between the Demon Slayer Corps and the series’ most formidable demons inside the Infinity Castle.
