TV personality Park Soo-hong marked his daughter Jae-yi’s first birthday with a heartfelt message that had him on the verge of tears.
On Oct. 14, Park hosted a traditional first-birthday party (doljanchi) for Jae-yi at the Signiel Seoul hotel in Songpa. A who’s who of industry friends turned out, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere.
“I became a dad later than most,” Park shared, fighting back tears. “I figured we wouldn’t have another milestone like this before I hit 60, so we pulled out all the stops to say thank you. I’m grateful to everyone who helped me get here.”
He then performed “With All My Heart,” an original song he wrote for his wife, Kim Da-ye, and broke down as he added, “Thank you for standing by me and bringing our child into the world. I didn’t think I’d ever know happiness like this, but you made it possible,” drawing big applause.
Park’s longtime friend and the founding president of his fan club, Park Kyung-lim, delivered a congratulatory speech, while singers Byul, Lee Soo-young and Hwang Min-ho performed celebratory songs. Singer Lee Dong-woo’s impromptu a cappella of “Fly Me to the Moon” lulled baby Jae-yi to sleep in her father’s arms―turning the moment into pure magic.
Also in attendance was Choi Ji-woo, MC of KBS2’s “The Return of Superman,” who said, “I’ve watched Jae-yi grow, laughing and crying along the way. Congratulations,” sharing her affection.
Park and Kim married in 2021 and welcomed their daughter via IVF in October last year.
