On the “Golden 38” special of ENA and SBS Plus’ reality dating series "I Am Solo, Love Forever", Season 23’s Ok-soon and Mr. Kang weathered on-camera friction and chatter that she was being iced out by other contestants―then declared they’re dating off-screen and even teased marriage on the horizon.
During the Oct. 16 finale, Ok-soon chose Mr. Kang through tears, and he picked her right back, sealing the endgame couple status.
Ok-soon had faced accusations of “stringing people along” and whispers behind the scenes as the season progressed. Despite the cold shoulders and tough talk, she stayed true to her feelings―and ultimately won out with Mr. Kang, who remained steadfast throughout.
The pair went live on Chonjang Entertainment’s YouTube channel on Oct. 17 and confirmed they’re together in real life.
“We started dating after becoming the final couple, and we’re still going strong,” Mr. Kang said, also apologizing for how he handled things during their four days at the solo guesthouse. “I realized I made parts of that time hard. I’ll own my mistakes―and stay by her side, loving and protecting her.”
“I know I came off as pushy on the show,” Ok-soon responded. “I’ve reflected a lot and apologized. It helped me take a hard look at myself.”
When a viewer asked if wedding news might be coming, Mr. Kang didn’t hesitate: “Yes.”
Elsewhere this season, several other finale matches―Season 11’s Young-sook and Mr. Kim, Season 24’s Ok-soon and Mr. Na, and Season 25’s Ok-soon and Mr. Yoon―did not continue as real-life couples after the show.
