Singer-actor MINHO carved out a meaningful moment to connect with theatergoers.

On Oct. 16, he took the stage in "Waiting for Godot" as understudy Val, delivering a fully committed turn that kept the performance humming and drew roaring applause.

Val is an eager understudy holed up in the dressing room of "Waiting for Godot", counting the days until he finally hits the boards. Trading witty lines and playful antics with Ester, he unpacks weighty themes with humor and heart―while nudging the audience to consider what “Godot” really means.

In a special post-show talkback, MINHO joined actor Park Geun-hyung (who plays Ester) and director Oh Kyung-taek to answer pre-submitted questions from the crowd.

Asked what he’s done in pursuit of “Godot” and how he waits for his own, MINHO said, “Since starting this play, I’ve spent a lot of time asking myself what my ‘Godot’ is. I wondered if the rehearsals to get onstage―or the moment of meeting the audience―might be it. But I reached a point where I felt that if you give your all to what’s in front of you and wait with hope, there’s another kind of happiness that comes from that. So rather than defining my ‘Godot,’ I’d say it’s an unknown answer that isn’t fixed.”

When a fan asked whether his comedic bird impressions were planned or improvised, he replied, “I map out a loose framework and perform within that plan. Sometimes it’s an aggressive bird, sometimes a courting bird―I even switch up the species. There are first-time viewers, but for those who come back, I thought it’d be fun to change the little beats each time,” earning knowing laughs from the room.

Riding strong advance sales, Waiting for "Waiting for Godot" runs through Nov. 16 at YES24 Stage Hall 3.
