Kim Nam-gil, Park Bo-gum and Lee Hyun-wook are joining forces in the historical drama film "Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land" (literal translation).
Set against a defining flashpoint in the Joseon dynasty, the film centers on the legendary painting "Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land"―completed in three days after Grand Prince Anpyeong described a utopian landscape he saw in a dream to court painter An Gyeon. As the masterpiece spreads its spell, two royal brothers―Suyang and Anpyeong―find themselves chasing very different visions of paradise and power.
Kim Nam-gil plays Suyang, a prince whose hunger for the throne hardens into ruthlessness as he tries to decipher his brother’s desires through the painting. Known for "Trigger," "The Fiery Priest" series, "Through the Darkness," "The Shameless" and "The Pirates," Kim is poised to chart Suyang’s chilling evolution―from awakening ambition to spiraling doubt, suspicion and fear―across a wide emotional range.
Park Bo-gum steps in as Anpyeong, a tastemaker prince and celebrated calligrapher-artist who lives for beauty and collects art. Fresh off "Good Boy" and "When Life Gives You Tangerines," Park brings an idealist’s fire to Anpyeong, a man determined to manifest the paradise he once dreamed―even if it means standing firm against his elder brother’s iron will.
Lee Hyun-wook portrays An Gyeon, Anpyeong’s closest artistic confidant and the painter behind the iconic work. After leaving a strong impression in Wongyeong and with memorable turns in "Song of the Bandits," "Remarriage & Desires" and "Mine," Lee takes on An Gyeon as both observer and chronicler―unyielding even in the shadow of power―promising a fresh, textured presence on screen.
The ensemble also includes Park Won-sang, Choi Deok-moon, Ryu Seung-soo, Cha Soon-bae, Kim Byung-chul, Kim Tae-hoon, Park Myung-hoon and Kim Nam-hee, a lineup stacked with scene-stealers who’ll bring the palace’s high-stakes chess match to life.
"Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land" marks director Jang Hoon’s first foray into period filmmaking. Jang previously delivered box-office juggernaut "A Taxi Driver" (12.18 million admissions) and acclaimed titles "The Front Line," "Secret Reunion" and "Rough Cut," earning a reputation for crossing eras and genres with impact.
Production kicked off on October 14, with principal photography now underway.
