Ryu Hyun-kyung is stepping behind the camera with her first feature, "Don't Go Back," meeting audiences as the film’s director.

Starting Oct. 23, she’ll bring "Don't Go Back" to Namdo Film Festival Season 2 in Gwangyang.

A romance told through the crackling tension on a movie set, "Don't Go Back" tracks a confession and everything that follows, filtered through Ryu’s distinctive perspective. She produced, wrote, directed, edited, and also stars in the film. The title earned praise after being invited to the Seoul Independent Film Festival 2024 as a Festival Choice: Features selection.

Ryu will also present her 2010 short "Heart Robber," which she both directed and headlined. The film screens in "Namdo’s Gaze," a special program spotlighting shorts directed by leading Korean actors―giving her a two-title presence at the festival.

Known for carving out a singular path across film, TV, and theater, Ryu recently directed and starred in the music video for RA.D’s new single "Like Old Days." She also marked a successful big-screen return with the feature "No Parking," continuing her momentum across multiple fronts.

Namdo Film Festival Season 2 in Gwangyang runs Oct. 23?27, showcasing 81 films from 12 countries, with Ryu appearing both as an actor and a director.
