TearDrop bassist Kim Sang-young has died after a three-year battle with cancer. He was 42.
On Oct. 21, the band’s official account shared the news, saying their “beloved” bassist had left “far too soon.” They remembered Kim as someone who loved the band and music with unshakable passion, adding that their hearts are heavy with grief.
TearDrop has released three studio albums, one EP and three singles. Alongside his work in the band, Kim also built a career as an automotive journalist. His condition reportedly worsened over the last three to four months, and he was unable to recover.
A memorial has been prepared in Special Room No. 1 at Seoul Red Cross Hospital. The funeral will be held Oct. 23 at 10 a.m., with interment at Seoul Metropolitan Crematorium (Seoul Memorial Park).
