On the Oct. 28 episode of SBS's "Invitation from Bachelor Again," the singer appeared as a guest and addressed questions fans have long had.
Host Lee Sang-min noted that KCM only recently confirmed his marriage and the existence of his two daughters, and the cast pressed him on why he kept it private.
"I was in debt back then. I didn’t want that to become my family’s problem," KCM said. "Even during my hiatus, it was really tough, and watching Lee Sang-min helped me keep my resolve."
He continued, "I worked hard, cleared all my debt in 2022, and that’s when my wife and I made it legal at city hall," revealing they filed their marriage registration 12 years into their relationship.
"After we registered, we were expecting our second, so we planned a proper wedding, but the timing kept slipping," he explained. "That’s how we ended up not publicly sharing our marriage or our daughters."
KCM, whose eldest is now in middle school, added, "Looking back, I feel like I was foolish and cowardly ― not the dad I wanted to be. That’s why I finally decided to tell the truth."
When the hosts asked how his daughters took the news, he admitted, "I was bracing for backlash. I even looked into other jobs. But the day before the story broke, my firstborn asked if I was okay and told me I didn’t have to reveal anything if I didn’t want to. I felt so sorry, and it made me think a lot."
"Her words gave me courage," he said. "I want to live openly now and be a dad they can be proud of, so I decided to share everything."
Co-host Tak Jae-hoon joked, "Or did she tell you not to go public because she was embarrassed?" KCM laughed, "There might be a little of that," drawing laughs on set.
