Jeonju International Film Festival has reupped Min Sung-uk and Jung Joon-ho as co-festival directors. Their new term runs through December 13, 2028, covering the festival’s 27th through 29th editions.
The festival adopted a co-director leadership model starting with its 24th edition. Min, a founding team member, has focused on sharpening Jeonju’s identity, while actor-entrepreneur Jung has leveraged his profile and network to expand the festival’s footprint and mainstream appeal.
Under the two-hander setup, Jeonju has kept its momentum. The 26th edition drew more than 70,000 attendees with an 81.8% ticket sell-through and earned praise from both audiences and critics for programs that felt distinctly Jeonju. The festival has been lauded for widening the slate of indie and art-house cinema, doubling down on audience-friendly operations, and cultivating a festival culture that grows with the local community―striking a balance between strong identity and accessibility.
In addition, the Jeonju International Film Festival Organizing Committee announced that the 27th edition will run April 29 to May 8, 2026, a 10-day event.
Dates were set at a board meeting on Monday, October 27. Landing over Korea’s Labor Day (May 1) and Children’s Day (May 5) holidays, the 2026 fest is expected to boost participation from moviegoers and industry players at home and abroad.
