Kim Min-jong and Ye Ji-won’s new film ‘Firenze’ has locked in a November 26 theatrical release.
Along with the date, the team unveiled a “Duomo” poster spotlighting the intricate grandeur of Firenze’s landmark Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, better known as the Duomo.
A reflective road movie, ‘Firenze’ follows Seok-in, a middle-aged man at the edge of loss who finds himself slowly revived under the Florentine sun where his youthful passion once burned. Director Lee Chang-yeol, whose previous film earned 56 awards on the festival circuit, explores midlife questions of meaning and direction with a restrained, elegant touch.
The film was recently invited to the 2025 Global Stage Hollywood Film Festival, where it took home three prizes: Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Director.
Marking his first big-screen role in two decades, Kim Min-jong plays Seok-in with finely tuned restraint, tracing the character’s quiet turmoil and subtle emotional shifts. “Kim Min-jong’s performance breathed life into the character,” Lee praised.
Ye Ji-won channels the city’s spirit of freedom, slipping into Italian with ease and performing choreography that threads Korean sentiment through the Italian landscape.
Shot entirely on location across Firenze, the film features cinematography by Lee Sung-je, who captures timeworn stone facades, Arno River sunsets and hushed alleyways, distilling the beauty of Dante’s city onto the screen.
‘Firenze’ opens in theaters November 26.
