Lee Hyun-yi Celebrates 20 Years of Debut with Glam Photo Shoot, Gets a Sweet Surprise From Husband Hong Sung-gi
You're My DestinyLee Hyun-yi just hit a major milestone: her 20th debut anniversary.

On the Nov. 3 episode of SBS’s “Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny,” the veteran model set out to commemorate the occasion with a special editorial shoot ― and some intense pre-shoot prep.

To get camera-ready, Lee downed a mix of olive oil and lemon juice, took a spoonful of sea moss, and even sipped a trendy hot-and-cold “eumyang” tonic. The studio panel couldn’t help but tease her, joking that a good night’s sleep and cutting back on drinks might be the simpler solution.

She also showed off serious core strength, holding a plank for five minutes. “I’ve kept up planks ever since giving birth,” she said.

At home, husband Hong Sung-gi made her a melon caprese salad, while Lee stuck to a protein-packed poke with avocado, cream cheese, and salmon. When Hong wondered if that was wise before a shoot, she quipped, “That’s why I’m skipping the carbs.”

Once Lee arrived at the studio, 13 different looks and a spread of dazzling jewelry were waiting ― complete with a security guard on standby for the bling.

As hair and makeup got underway, Lee shared a sweet family tidbit: “My younger one thinks I’m a soccer player. He’s six and basically lives on the field,” she laughed. “This time, I want to show them a different side of Mom ― the model.”

Lee powered through outfit changes and touch-ups like a pro. When panelist Jo Woo-jong asked if the grind comes with a big payday, she was candid: “Editorials are like our portfolio ― the pay isn’t huge.” Kim Gu-ra chimed in that it’s similar to singers doing music shows; Lee agreed.

After wrapping the final look, Lee posed for commemorative photos with the crew ― and that’s when Hong and their two sons made a surprise visit. Spotting them empty-handed, she teased, “No gifts? The boss used to bring flowers.” Hong joked back, hoisting the boys’ hands: “These two are the gifts ― both hands full.”

On the drive home, Hong suggested a simple Han River ramen run. Sensing something up, Lee grinned, “So what did you plan ― a riverfront restaurant? A cruise? Steak?”

They pulled into an empty parking lot, and just as the moment seemed underwhelming, Hong pulled a bouquet of hydrangeas from the car. When he popped the trunk, it revealed a cascade of flowers and a celebratory garland.

A video message from Hong and their two sons followed, moving Lee to tears.

Lee had a surprise of her own, unveiling a banner congratulating Hong on his recent promotion ― and gifting him a luxury wallet to mark the moment.
