The show’s producers said Lee had been weighing his participation amid a packed calendar that includes overseas projects and recently shared his intention to leave. “We respect his decision and, after discussions, agreed to cheer each other on. We’re grateful for the passion he’s shown despite his busy schedule,” the production team said in a statement.
Lee joined “Hangout with Yoo” as a fixed cast member in September 2022, teaming up with Yoo Jae-suk, HAHA, and Joo Woo-jae. With new commitments to the Vietnamese film “I Am Here” and TBS Japan’s drama “Dream Stage,” he decided to exit the show’s weekly taping to accommodate frequent travel.
He will continue appearing on variety series with lighter taping schedules, including ENA and SBS Plus’ “I Am Solo” and E Channel’s “Brave Detectives.”
Meanwhile, after an online post alleged false claims about his personal life, Lee’s team filed a police complaint against the writer for defamation and spreading misinformation.
