Model Moon Gabi voiced strong outrage over an AI-generated deepfake video that misused photos of her 18-month-old son.
On Nov. 5, Moon Gabi wrote on social media, "On Oct. 30 I shared a few photos ― simple slices of everyday life for a mom and her son ― but I've never shown my child's face anywhere."
She continued, "Even so, an unrelated account took my photos without consent and illegally cobbled together a post that made it look like I revealed my child's face and even left interview-style 'official' comments."
The disputed clip stitched a back-view photo of her child that she had posted with an AI-fabricated frontal video.
Some viewers, not realizing it was fake, assumed Moon Gabi had uploaded it herself and questioned whether it was too soon to show her son's face.
"The images of me and my child in that video ― and the text attached ― are not true. It's a clearly false, illegally made AI composite created with my original photo without permission," she said. "Please refrain from any actions that violate the law and distort our daily life, including fake photos and videos that do not reflect my child's real appearance. I'm asking you to stop."
On Oct. 30, Moon Gabi had posted only back-of-the-head or long-distance shots of her son, with his face blurred or out of focus ― without any captions.
Born in 1989, Moon Gabi surprised the public last November by revealing on her birthday that she had welcomed a son that March. Reports later identified actor Jung Woo-sung as the child's biological father, and Jung acknowledged the news.
