UN Choi Jung-won Referred to Prosecutors over Alleged Stalking of Ex
Choi Jung-won
Actor Choi Jung-won, formerly of the male duo UN, has been referred to prosecutors on an alleged stalking charge involving his ex-girlfriend.

On the 12th, MBN reported that the Seoul Jungbu Police referred Choi to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on suspicion of violating South Korea’s anti-stalking law.

According to police, on August 16 Choi went to his ex’s residence following their breakup and allegedly engaged in threatening behavior. After the woman reported fears for her safety, police sought an emergency protection order, which the Seoul Central District Court approved on August 18.

The order bars the suspect from approaching within 100 meters of the victim or contacting her; violations carry a penalty of up to one year in prison or a fine of up to 10 million won.

SBS first broke the story. At the time, Choi denied wrongdoing on social media, calling it “a private dispute blown out of proportion.” He added, “Claims that I brandished a weapon or stalked her are not true, and reports that I hinted at self-harm were distorted.”
