Ji Chang-wook is set to lead a new Korean-Japanese romantic comedy series, "Merry Very Love".

Appearing at the Disney Plus Originals Preview 2025 held at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, the actor introduced the project ahead of filming.

“It’s my first time joining a Japanese series, and I’ve always wanted to work in Japan,” Ji said. “When "Merry Very Love" came my way, it felt like a collaboration I didn’t want to miss. I was drawn to the character, and I’m excited to team up with Imada Mio.”

“I’ve watched several of Ji Chang-wook’s works and thought he was a fantastic actor,” added Imada Mio. “On this project, I know I can rely on him, and I’m looking forward to working together on set.”

Imada rose to prominence with the 2018 drama "Boys Over Flowers Season 2."

"Merry Very Love" pairs two rising stars from Korea and Japan in a romance set on a Japanese island, following a couple from different countries and languages as they fall for each other. The casting and production plans were revealed for the first time at the preview event.

“In the early episodes, my character doesn’t speak Japanese, so expect some playful chaos,” Ji teased. “As the story goes on, they learn to communicate. I’m nervous because it’s a first for me, but I’ve prepared hard and I’m excited. Imada has already started filming, and I’ll join the shoot this Sunday.”

"Merry Very Love" will premiere next year on Disney Plus.
