On the Nov. 21 episode of SBS’s reality series “Manager Seojin”, the team stepped in as managers for Cho Jung-seok, with cameras following them through a packed day.
Warming up for his solo concert “The Cho Jung-seok Show,” the actor hit the rehearsal room with his band―and surprised everyone by ripping through a polished guitar solo and showing off smooth vocals.
“I was shocked,” admitted Lee Seo-jin. “I didn’t know he could pull off a guitar solo―let alone sing that well.”
The Secretaries played model managers throughout, treating the band to pizza and drinks and even rolling out a “Jackpot” cake wishing the concert a smash run―touching Cho in the process. “The power of TV is real,” he laughed. “Seo-jin hyung usually finds this stuff too cringey to do.”
Hoping to snag a guest spot at the concert, Kim Kwang-kyu broke into his song “Open Sesame” with the band―but missed the beat and was promptly escorted off by Lee Seo-jin, cracking up the room. “I lost the rhythm and felt so embarrassed,” Kim said later. “Honestly, I was grateful to be pulled out. I got a little too excited.” The bandleader’s veto ended his guest dreams on the spot.
After wrapping for the day, the group headed to dinner. Cho teased, “I’m a solo act―what happens if all five of you show up? I’m worried,” genuinely fretting over the chaos they might bring.
Kim shot back, “If you’re worried, just come along,” then praised Jo’s behind-the-wheel skills. Earlier, Cho had volunteered as designated driver while the others drank. “You must hear from your wife that you’re a good driver, right?” Kim asked. Cho grinned: “All the time. I like to keep it smooth.” Lee added, half-joking, that Cho should just join The Secretaries full-time―at least for the driving.
Cho playfully scolded them: “Guys, ever heard of shame? Most of your lines are shameless,” before asking what the show’s actual concept was. “To make you really appreciate your real managers,” they replied. “Then we’re nailed to the brief―200%,” Cho quipped, prompting more laughter. He doubled down with mock praise: “If that’s the concept, this is the greatest show. It deserves a year-end grand prize.”
Cho also opened up about his romance with wife GUMMY, sharing that he started as a fan, met her by chance, grew close, and eventually married. Lee mused, “For me, actresses feel like colleagues, but female singers are stars. Watching you meet them was always so cool.” Cho teased back, “Haven’t you met quite a few?” Lee conceded, “There are a few,” and left it there.
As the episode wrapped, Cho turned to the camera with a message for the show’s next guest: “Turn it down while you can. This isn’t what you think. Whatever you’re imagining―it’s even more.”
