MoonOne, the 37-year-old fiancé of Koyote’s Shinji (44), pulled back the curtain on his birthday gift plans―and in the process, quietly put engagement-era rumors to rest.
On Nov. 26, the couple’s YouTube channel shared footage of MoonOne hunting for a present ahead of Shinji’s birthday. Outside a department store, he explained that she struggles with cold hands and feet and always carries thick socks and heat packs, so he set his sights on a pair of fur-lined boots―ultimately choosing a luxury brand in the 2 million won range for a surprise gift.
Back home, he handed over the bag after “five hours on the road” to snag it. Shinji tried to play it cool―“It’s not even my birthday yet”―but lit up the moment she saw the designer shopping bag. After unboxing, she gushed, “Have you always had taste like this? They’re almost too nice to wear,” while MoonOne laughed, “I was actually shaking at the register.”
The splurge didn’t stop there. To celebrate her birthday―and as a year-end thank-you to their producer―he treated the team to a chef’s-choice Japanese omakase priced around 300,000 won per person.
Known for a frugal streak―he jokes he prefers “chimakase,” a tongue-in-cheek spread of every kind of fried chicken instead of omakase―MoonOne went big for the occasion. “You’re usually thrifty, but when you spend, you go all in,” the producer teased, while Shinji snapped photos with a grin.
Shinji has recently addressed nasty speculation that MoonOne is “in it for the money.” On the YouTube show “A-Class Jang Young-ran,” she said negative comments spiked after they shared footage from their families’ formal meeting, with viewers even parsing fortune-telling, compatibility charts and face-reading to claim “something feels off” or that he “came for the money.” Shinji pushed back: “It’s absolutely not true that he approached me for my finances. He’s doing well on his own.”
The pair first connected on MBC radio’s “Single Bungle Show.” After a concert, MoonOne asked if they could make that day “Day One,” and they started dating. The couple plans to marry next year.
