Singer Sung Si-kyung, 46, who recently suffered financial losses due to a longtime manager, has decided to move forward with his year-end concerts―and got visibly emotional after broadcaster Lee Geum-hee, 59, offered heartfelt encouragement.

In a video posted to Sung’s YouTube channel on Nov. 27, Lee shared, “In a world that feels short on kindness, kindness can still change everything.” Turning to the balladeer, she added, “I hope you know just how remarkable you are.”

Marking his 25th anniversary this year, Sung revealed in September that he had been financially harmed by a manager he had worked with for over a decade, describing deep shock and a profound sense of betrayal.

“I watched your concert last year with my niece, and we were so happy,” Lee continued. “Seeing you make people happy for more than 20 years is extraordinary. I don’t know if you realize the magnitude of what you do. ‘Superstar’ doesn’t even cover it―you’re part of the culture and the times.”

Choking up, Sung opened up about where his head’s been lately. “These days I keep asking myself, ‘What is it that I really do?’ I’m a bit of an odd one―I’m not someone who goes around thinking, ‘I’m Sung Si-kyung,’” he said. “But I’m finally realizing how many people have been rooting for me, and how long I’ve been able to sing because of them.”

“That support is a powerful source of strength,” he added. “When I say I don’t live for my own ego, it doesn’t mean I don’t understand the weight and power of the support I’m receiving. I’m grateful―and that’s why I want to do these year-end shows right.”
