Singer and actor Kim Jae-joong has been recognized for his steady commitment to giving back.
On Dec. 2, he received a commendation for advancing a culture of philanthropy at the inaugural “Seoul Nanum-Eum” ceremony held at Seoul City Hall.
“Seoul Nanum-Eum” is the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s signature initiative celebrating a city where acts of generosity are remembered and respected. The inaugural event honored those keeping that spirit alive with official commendations.
Four individuals and three organizations were recognized; Kim, one of the individual honorees, accepted his certificate directly from the Mayor of Seoul.
Kim has long channeled his platform into charitable work, pairing personal donations with hands-on volunteerism. He has also pledged portions of album-sale proceeds and profits from his traditional Korean liquor brand to charitable causes.
Most recently, he joined JTBC and UNICEF’s serialized fundraising program "Project Blue" as its third featured participant, traveling to the Philippines to meet children in need and share messages of hope. The JTBC special "Kim Jae-joong’s Hope Code" airs Dec. 12.
Fresh off wrapping his Japan arena tour on Nov. 30, Kim will meet fans in Beijing on Dec. 6 and in Macau for the "2025 iNKODE to Play: Christmas Show" on Dec. 25.
