On Dec. 7, the YouTube channel "Jodongari" dropped a teaser for its Dec. 14 episode featuring Kim candidly recalling the moments leading up to his collapse.
In the preview, Ji Seok-jin asks, "You kind of have two birthdays now, right?" Kim replies, "I do. The second one's Nov. 14"―the day he went down.
Kim Yong-man remembers, "I was in Japan when Kim Sook called me, saying, 'Soo-yong just collapsed.'"
Kim says he drove himself to the set in Gapyeong that day. "Before we roll, I always do the same thing―have a smoke. And I thought, 'Why does this cigarette taste so bitter?' That's the last thing I remember."
Kim Yong-man adds, "People were saying his heart wasn't beating―for about 20 minutes. He wasn't breathing, and I thought, 'Is this it?' It was terrifying."
On Nov. 14, Kim lost consciousness while filming content in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province. Fellow cast members Kim Sook and Im Hyung-joon reportedly performed CPR before he was transported to a hospital, where he regained consciousness. Doctors diagnosed him with an acute myocardial infarction, and he underwent angioplasty. He has since been discharged and is recovering.
