On the Dec. 9 episode of SBS’s "Invitation from Bachelor Again," the cast dove into a no-holds-barred debate over whether the screen icon should give marriage another shot.
Before the fireworks, Lee Sang-min asked where Hwang stands today. Hwang didn’t hesitate: she has no plans to marry ― even if she meets someone she really likes. “I still wouldn’t get married,” she said. “I’d rather live together than tie the knot.”
She added with a laugh, “Friends who remarried sometimes want out ― they actually envy my life,” making clear she’s content where she is.
Lee tried to sway her with a cheeky twist: “If your daughter’s rooting for you to date, and everyone here votes yes, you have to get married,” he joked as the debate kicked off.
Kim Jun-ho argued the case against: “Don’t do it. No man could possibly keep up with you. Freedom suits you.”
On the pro side, Lee countered, “Hwang Shin-hye is Korea’s Kim Kardashian. She’s been a trailblazer for decades ― it’d be a shame not to start a bold new chapter.” Lim Won-hee chimed in, “Meet someone great and set an example.”
Tak Jae-hoon wasn’t buying it. “It’s too soon to marry,” he deadpanned. “There’s a saying: delay marriage and death as long as you can. Call her ‘Baby Hwang.’” The room cracked up.
Yoon Da-hoon also passed on the idea, calling it “not the right time,” prompting Lee to marvel, “That’s a veteran move.”
YouTuber Mimiminu took a different angle: “From a creator’s POV, it’s worth it. She’s at about 80,000 subscribers now ― a marriage announcement could push her past 1 million.”
Hwang thanked everyone for the heartfelt input: “I appreciate you thinking about my future. Thank you for speaking from a place of care.”
Later, Yoon ― who spent years as a long-distance dad while his family lived overseas and now jokes he’s a “long-distance grandpa” ― dropped some tongue-in-cheek survival tips: “Only send your family unglamorous, sympathy-inducing photos. And if you want your daughter to call, freeze her allowance.”
