In a Dec. 11 interview at a cafe in Seoul’s Samcheong-dong for his Disney+ series "The Manipulated", D.O. said he’ll have to skip Kim Woo-bin and Shin Mina’s ceremony on Dec. 20 because EXO is set to attend the 2025 Melon Music Awards (MMA) that same day.
“I’m really disappointed,” D.O. said. “But it’s only right that EXO comes first.”
He’d known about the wedding in advance and had even planned to sing at the ceremony. “I was going to perform a congratulatory song,” he revealed. “But the wedding and the MMA overlap. I even mapped out shuttling between venues, but the ceremony happens during EXO’s stage. There’s just no way. I’m really bummed.”
“I feel so sorry to Woo-bin. I keep telling him that,” he added, noting that Kim has been completely understanding.
Since he can’t be there, D.O. is mulling over a meaningful way to celebrate the couple as they start a new chapter.
"The Manipulated" is an action drama about Tae-jung (Ji Chang-wook), an ordinary man unjustly swept into a brutal crime and sent to prison―only to discover the entire nightmare was meticulously orchestrated by Johan (D.O.). He sets out for revenge.
D.O. plays Ahn Yo-han, the head of an elite security service for the top 1%, who manufactures evidence to recast crimes committed by the privileged. He calls it “sculpting” a case and takes perverse pleasure in it―a ruthless figure who defies the simple “psychopath” label.
In his first villain role, D.O. delivers a chilling turn that’s drawing praise for introducing a fresh, non-formulaic antagonist.
All 12 episodes of "The Manipulated" are now streaming on Disney+.
