TV host Jun Hyun-moo is pushing back against claims of illegal medical treatment tied to the wider “Injection Aunt” scandal that began with a whistleblowing post from comedian Park Na-rae’s former manager.
On Dec. 19, Jun’s agency SM C&C moved quickly with a statement to “set the record straight about an old broadcast clip now spreading online,” adding, “Jun Hyun-moo never privately summoned medical personnel, nor did he receive any illegal procedures.”
The clip in question comes from a 2016 episode of MBC’s reality series "I Live Alone," where Jun was seen getting an IV drip inside a car―a moment that recently resurfaced and was lumped in with the “Injection Aunt” controversy.
According to the agency, “Jun was experiencing throat issues at the time and went to a hospital, where he was examined and prescribed treatment by his doctor. Due to a tight filming schedule, the treatment was completed while he was in transit, per the physician’s judgment, and part of that process appeared on air.”
SM C&C added that the clip “has been recirculated without proper context, fueling unnecessary speculation,” and asked the public to refrain from spreading unfounded claims or distorted interpretations.
The “Injection Aunt” scandal―centered on a woman alleged to have administered IV drips without a medical license―has roiled Korea’s entertainment scene, drawing in figures like Park Na-rae, SHINee’s KEY and mukbang creator Short Mouth Sun. Both KEY and Short Mouth Sun have said they believed the woman was a doctor and have announced hiatuses from activities.
