At the 2025 SBS Entertainment Awards, broadcast live from SBS Prism Tower in Seoul’s Mapo District at 8:50 p.m. on Dec. 30, "Kick a Goal" stars Kim Jin-kyung and Lee Hyun-yi shared the Female Top Excellence Award.
“Standing here still feels unreal, but I think it’s thanks to how hard I worked at soccer,” Kim began in her acceptance speech.
She thanked the production team and everyone who helped her get to the stage, adding that the honor was possible because of the great people around her.
“For five years, my life was basically eat, sleep and soccer,” she said. “There were so many ups and downs, and I grew a lot.” Kim then expressed heartfelt gratitude to the staff who gave her the chance to shine.
She also shouted out her "Kick a Goal" squad Gucheok Jangshin, saying the teammates she laughed and cried with over the past five years felt like family and that she loves them dearly.
“To my family, who suddenly found themselves with a soccer player at home and still cheered me on, I love you,” she continued, before turning to her husband. “And to Kim Seung-gyu, who’s always pushed me with both carrots and sticks―thank you, and I love you.”
Kim closed with a life update that brought the room to its feet: “It looks like it’s time to take a little break from the sport I love. Our baby is healthy and growing well. I’m sad to step away from soccer for a bit, but I’ll be back stronger.” Her announcement drew a wave of applause.
