
A female livestreamer who gained recognition through YouTube features was arrested after allegedly driving under the influence of medication and crashing her car, police said.
According to authorities on the 2nd, the Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul detained a woman in her 30s, identified only as “A,” on suspicion of drug-impaired driving. She is accused of crashing her sedan into a utility pole around 6:50 p.m. on December 31 in Hwayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.
CCTV footage aired by TV Chosun shows the car swerving, clipping the curb, and then slamming into a pole before coming to a stop. Part of the pole was damaged, but no injuries were reported.
During questioning, “A” reportedly told police she had taken a prescribed sleep aid before getting behind the wheel. Police said alcohol was not involved. Investigators have requested a forensic analysis from the National Forensic Service to determine the exact substance and its effect on her ability to drive.
