On the Jan. 6 episode of SBS’ "Whenever Possible", actors Cha Tae-hyun and Kim Do-hoon dropped by as the week’s “gap” friends.
“By the filming schedule, does this make my second time this year? Why do you keep calling me whenever there’s a 'gap'?” Cha joked.
Yoo Yeon-seok fired back, “Because you’ve got plenty of gaps,” and Cha laughed, “Fair point. I don’t even have a regular gig right now.”
Kim Do-hoon admitted variety shows still trip him up, adding that he’d asked Cha for advice the night before.
“For actors, variety can be tough because there’s no script,” Cha said, before flipping it with a grin: “But I’m the opposite―I struggle when there is a script.” Yoo Jae-suk agreed, “Exactly. Variety is about rolling with it. If you can handle the chaos, you’re good.”
The conversation soon veered into nostalgia. Yoo asked 1998-born Kim Do-hoon if he remembered the 2002 World Cup, then turned to Cha: “What were you up to back then?”
“That was my peak,” Cha replied. “Right after 'My Sassy Girl'―when I had nothing lined up but everything was happening. Back then it was like, ‘Who’s Yoo Jae-suk? Tell him to wait.’” Yoo burst out laughing and backed him up: “It’s true. Tae-hyun’s popularity was insane―crowds would flood the streets wherever he went. Even his manager was cruising around in a top-of-the-line sports car.” Cha quipped, “Everyone had lost their minds,” cracking up the table.
Dinner came with a twist: whoever failed to stifle a burp after drinking soda would pick up the check. Yoo Yeon-seok pointed out, “No one said you can’t use… external help,” then poked Yoo Jae-suk mid-hold, handing him the loss and prompting cheers from their “gap” crew.
The group then teamed with the music director for an OST quiz. After a bumpy start, they cleared level one and pushed to the final round of level two.
Yoo Jae-suk, Kim Do-hoon, and Cha Tae-hyun nailed their turns, leaving only Yoo Yeon-seok. A familiar theme from the film "Friend" started playing―an easy finish.
But Yoo Yeon-seok blurted out “City of the Rising Sun,” adding, “You know, with Lee Jung-jae and Jung Woo-sung,” mixing up his memories. The miss cost them even the prize they’d won in round one, ending the night on a funny, frustrating note.
