At the “Next on Netflix 2026 Korea” showcase held Tuesday morning at the Conrad Seoul in Yeongdeungpo, Netflix outlined its upcoming slate and creative direction for the year.

Among the highlights is "Teach You a Lesson", a new series based on the hit webtoon of the same name. The drama follows a government task force―the Office of Teacher Rights Protection―formed to restore order and dignity to classrooms shaken by boundary-pushing students, teachers, and parents. Kim Moo-yeol, Lee Sung-min, Jin Ki-joo, and Pyo Ji-hoon star. The series is slated to premiere in Q2.

Since news of the adaptation broke, however, some viewers have voiced concerns tied to the source material, which previously drew criticism for glorifying corporal punishment and including racially insensitive content.

Addressing the conversation, Netflix senior director Bae Jong-byung said, “While 'Teach You a Lesson' is based on a webtoon, we developed it with a strong sense of responsibility because it tackles a story that feels necessary right now. We’re well aware of the criticism and concerns around certain episodes in the original, and we took that into account throughout production.”

He continued, “We approached the series with greater responsibility and a more considered lens. When it’s released, you’ll be able to see that for yourself.”

"Teach You a Lesson" brings together director Hong Jong-chan and writer Lee Nam-gyu. Kim Moo-yeol plays Na Hwa-jin, an investigator at the Office of Teacher Rights Protection, while Lee Sung-min portrays Choi Kang-seok, the education minister who founded the unit. After previously working together on Juvenile Justice, the pair’s reunion has fans curious about what’s next. Jin Ki-joo stars as Im Han-lim, a former Special Forces officer turned investigator, and Pyo Ji-hoon plays Bong Geun-dae, a brilliant yet endearingly clumsy administrator at the agency.
