'I Am Solo 29' Youngcheol to Marry Jeongsuk in April, Says There Will Be "No In-Law Drama"

The Season 29 finale of ENA/SBS Plus dating series "I Am Solo" revealed that final couple Youngcheol and Jeongsuk have already registered their marriage and will hold a wedding on April 4―news that quickly lit up social media.

Following the broadcast, the pair jumped on a live stream via the YouTube channel “Chonjang Entertainment TV,” where Jeongsuk reminisced about Youngcheol’s first meeting with her parents. “He insisted on meeting them, so we sat down at a restaurant―and he showed up with premium Korean beef (hanwoo) and vitamins in both hands,” she shared, adding that he greeted her father with an extra-deep bow that immediately impressed him.

“The first impression was great. My dad even said you hardly see young people bow like that anymore,” she said. During the meal, when Youngcheol seemed too nervous to eat, her father lightened the mood by deboning a piece of fish for him―an icebreaker that helped their conversation flow and brought everyone closer quickly.

Jeongsuk added that the bond has only grown. “My dad and Youngcheol get along so well. When he comes back from U.S. business trips, he brings gifts, he checks in often―it’s hard not to like him,” she said. “When he met my mom, he told her there would never be mother-in-law/daughter-in-law drama in our house―and if it ever started, he wouldn’t just sit back. Hearing that made me want to be even more thoughtful.”

Youngcheol echoed the sentiment. “People say families barely exchange numbers these days, but even if times change, the good stuff should stay. I don’t want to tell anyone what to do―I want to be the son-in-law who leads by example.”

He also addressed early-season controversy after he dismissed women carrying designer bags as “out.” “I still believe how you spend is a personal choice,” he said. “I expressed my discomfort with situations where belongings overshadow the person―and I did it too forcefully. I’m sincerely sorry.”

On his much-debated stance about making breakfast, he clarified: “It came from wanting kids to have longer, healthier days. If my wording was over the top, that’s on me,” he said. “I said a lot of things early on that I shouldn’t have. I’m truly sorry. We’re just starting life not as ‘solo’ but as a married couple. I want to be the easygoing in-laws’ house and the son-in-law people can trust.”

Born in 1991, Youngcheol works in management support at a foreign automotive parts company. Jeongsuk, born in 1988, runs an English academy for elementary and middle school students. After coupling up on "I Am Solo", the two continued dating off-camera and are now headed down the aisle.

Elsewhere from Season 29, fellow finalists Youngsoo and Oksun also remained together and are still dating.
