Thanks to a breakout moment on TVING’s dating reality hit "EXchange" Season 4, Car, the garden has soared to No. 1 on Korea’s streaming charts with a song released four years ago.
As of the 25th, Car, the garden’s “My Whole World” claimed the top spot on the Melon Top 100. The track re-entered the chart at No. 4 after featuring on "EXchange 4," then quickly climbed to No. 1, unseating Hwa Sa’s long-reigning “Good Goodbye.”
The resurgence traces back to the onscreen arc of couple Jung Wongyu and Park Jihyeon. In a pivotal scene, Jung shared that they used to listen to the song together and laugh over the lyrics, later handwriting those lyrics as a keepsake―an intimate gesture that struck a chord with viewers. The track’s message, steeped in reunion and goodbye, synced perfectly with the show’s emotional beats and lit up social media.
Car, the garden reacted on social media, writing, “Life is full of surprises. That couple’s tender story brought my song to so many people,” adding, “Thank you to everyone who listened.”
He joked that he’d been “laid up with stomach flu” before hearing the chart news: “I went from tears to laughter. I’ll sing this song like my life depends on it―and work even harder on my music.”
At his recent solo concert, the singer also thanked the "EXchange" cast, saying the show gave the song a second life. With the finale looming, fans are even buzzing about a possible “wedding song” moment on the show, keeping the momentum red-hot.
