The film "Choir of God" has officially crossed 800,000 admissions nationwide.
According to the Korean Film Council’s box office tracker on the 30th, "Choir of God" has surpassed 800,000 cumulative moviegoers. The milestone comes in its fifth week of release after opening on December 31, following a steady sleeper-style climb.
Blending an offbeat premise―about a North Korean security officer who assembles a fake praise group―with stirring humanity and sweeping music, the movie struggled at first to secure screens amid heavyweight competition from Hollywood titles like "Avatar: Fire and Ash" and "Zootopia 2." After debuting at No. 5, it rallied to No. 2 at the box office and, five weeks in, continues to boast one of the market’s highest seat-occupancy rates.
Word of mouth has been the clear driver. Viewers, won over by the film’s laughs, heart, and comforting message, are returning for repeat viewings, while special sing-along screenings have also drawn enthusiastic crowds.
With momentum building, attention now turns to whether "Choir of God" can push past the 1 million mark nationwide in the coming days.
