On the 4th, Kim’s agency Fantagio released a statement clarifying details about his single-person company that recently drew attention in the press, and expressed regret.
Regarding the company Kim established, the agency said, “Kim Seon-ho founded a corporation in January 2024 for acting activities and theater production. After the corporation was set up in January 2024 and until before his new contract with Fantagio began in February 2025, payments for his activities were settled to that corporation,” adding, “After realizing the company’s operation could cause misunderstandings, he stopped operating it, and no activities have actually been carried out through the corporation for over a year.”
Fantagio continued, “From the start of Kim Seon-ho’s exclusive contract in February 2025 to now, all settlements have been paid directly to him as an individual,” stressing, “There is no connection whatsoever between Fantagio and that corporation regarding our contract process or his activities.”
Kim’s side also emphasized that the one-person company is in the process of being closed. The agency stated, “As a proactive step to correct his past, uninformed management of the corporation, Kim returned all corporate card expenses, family salaries, and the company vehicle. For amounts previously settled through the corporation, he completed paying additional personal income tax on top of the corporate tax that had already been paid,” adding, “The corporation is currently going through closure procedures, and the administrative steps will be finalized soon.”
They apologized, saying, “Kim Seon-ho deeply reflects on establishing and maintaining the corporation for about a year without fully understanding how to properly operate it. He bows his head in apology.” The agency added, “We also apologize for causing confusion and concern, and we will take every measure to manage all aspects of our artist’s activities more thoroughly going forward.”
Previously, reports claimed Kim had registered a separate performance planning company at his home address in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, with family members listed as executives, raising suspicions that income may have been routed through the company. The controversy drew comparisons to fellow Fantagio artist Cha Eun-woo, who recently received a sizable additional income tax assessment from the National Tax Service, prompting debate over whether a one-person company was being used for tax avoidance. As the conversation grew, Fantagio explained that Kim’s one-person company “was established for theater production and theater-related activities, and was absolutely not created to intentionally reduce or evade taxes,” and added, “There has been no actual business activity for over a year, and we are currently proceeding with closure in line with relevant laws and procedures.”
