Actor Joo Bo-bi is set to make a powerful impression in the film ‘HUMINT.’

‘HUMINT’ follows a clash of people with different agendas in Vladivostok, where even secrets and truth sink into the icy sea.

Joo Bo-bi plays Kim Surin, the character who effectively opens the film. Surin survives under the shadow of an illegal organization and kicks off the story as the key figure that sets the entire plot in motion.

To embody Surin, Joo Bo-bi underwent an extreme diet that left her spine visibly pronounced, transforming her appearance. She also mastered a flawless North Korean accent for deeper immersion. It signals a dramatic acting shift from her previous roles.

Since debuting in 2003 with KBS2’s ‘Sharp,’ Joo Bo-bi has built a solid filmography across genres, including the dramas ‘The City of Violence,’ ‘Navillera,’ ‘Hospital Playlist Season 2,’ ‘Green Mothers’ Club,’ and ‘Revenant,’ and the films ‘The Silenced,’ ‘EXIT,’ ‘The Book of Fish,’ ‘Escape from Mogadishu,’ and ‘Smugglers.’

Most recently, she drew attention for her dialect performance as Jongmal in Disney+’s ‘Low Life,’ and stole scenes as Dr. Choi Ji-soo in JTBC’s ‘Esquire: Beyond the Bar.’

‘HUMINT,’ featuring Joo Bo-bi, opens in theaters nationwide on February 11.
