"Do I Really Have to Live?" Comment Moves Comedian Kim Si-deok: "Reach Out―I'll Buy You a Meal"

Comedian Kim Si-deok is earning praise after reaching out to a distressed fan online with a simple, heartfelt offer.

Kim spotted a comment on his social media that read, “Do I really have to live?” He personally replied, “Wanna see a comedian in real life? If you come to Mok-dong, I’ll buy you a meal,” opening the door first.

The fan responded, “Wow, a famous person! Thank you so much. It feels like I just got an incredible wild card.” Kim followed up: “I’m glad. Don’t dwell on pointless thoughts. It’s cold―crawl under a blanket and read some webtoons on your phone. Check back on social media when you’re feeling healthier.”

The moment is drawing attention as a real example of how a celebrity’s social media can make a difference.

This isn’t Kim’s first good deed. In 2018, he found a handbag at Fukuoka Airport in Japan containing about 3 million won in cash and tracked down the owner. He was on a family trip but still made the call himself―and reportedly turned down an offer to be treated to a meal.

In 2019 and 2023, Kim also helped citizens who had collapsed on the street and in a parking lot, administering first aid or handing them over to the police and 119 without hesitation.

Debuting in 2001 as a 16th-class KBS comedian, Kim won love on "Gag Concert" with hit segments and catchphrases like “Have my baby” and “How old are you?”
