Comedian Lee Su-ji is stepping in for a special cameo voice role in Disney and Pixar’s animated film "Hoppers".
"Hoppers" is a Pixar-style animal adventure where “Hopping” technology transfers human consciousness into animal robots. A girl named Mabel becomes a robot beaver and infiltrates a wonder-filled animal world, kicking off an unexpected journey.
On the 10th, Disney and Pixar revealed the special cameo voice cast for "Hoppers": Lee Su-ji, a variety show favorite known for her many alter egos.
In this project, Lee tackles two characters―the Insect Queen and the Insect Prince―promising another standout turn. The Insect Queen, a member of the Great Animal Council, is strict yet widely respected. Her son, the Insect Prince, is stubborn and power-hungry. Lee is set to switch effortlessly between these polar-opposite personalities, aiming for a pitch-perfect match with each role.
Notably, the Insect Queen’s original voice is by Hollywood icon Meryl Streep, already a hot topic. In Korea, Lee is expected to showcase an equally dynamic range, making a strong impression with her performance.
In a newly released video, Lee calls "Hoppers" “a brilliantly set-up film with a very variety-style story,” and adds, “If you’re curious about two completely different characters brought to life through one actor, make sure to check it out in theaters.”
"Hoppers" is directed by Daniel Chong, creator of the globally loved series "We Bare Bears" and a storyboard artist on titles like "Cars 2" and "Penguins of Madagascar." The cast includes rising actor Piper Curda as Mabel, along with Bobby Moynihan from "Inside Out 2" and "IF," and Jon Hamm, who gained popularity in Korea with "Top Gun: Maverick" and won Best Actor in a TV Series at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards for "Mad Men." Joining the voice cast is three-time Academy Award winner Meryl Streep, who recently teased her appearance in "The Devil Wears Prada 2," signaling a polished final product.
With Lee Su-ji’s special cameo voice work adding to the excitement, "Hoppers" opens in Korea on March 4.
