On the February 10 episode of SBS’ "Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny", the couple joined the show as a new “destiny” pair.
When Han dropped by Kim’s business, he looked flustered―especially when Kim Gu-ra and Kim Sun-woo showed up right after.
Kim Byung-hyun was stunned to see how sweet Kim Gu-ra was to his wife. Kim Gu-ra said he calls his wife dozens of times a day and made 320 calls in six months, earning him the teasing nickname of a “serial caller.”
Kim Sun-woo then thanked Kim Byung-hyun. “I was on the verge of being released, but Colorado took me because of Byung-hyun. I didn’t even have a place to live, so I stayed at his place. He took care of everything,” he said. “My wife and I are most grateful to him. Last year, my wife spoke to Byung-hyun for the first time in a while and burst into tears. He was there for us when times were hardest. He’s so precious to us.”
Sun-woo worried that Kim is pouring everything into business. “Baseball alone would be fine, but you keep doing business. Don’t you get coaching offers from Major League teams?”
Kim replied, “I’ve had offers for a few years to come to the U.S., but I feel like it’s now or never for the business.” Kim Gu-ra shot back, “Why not coaching, then?”
Han Kyung-min said she understands why her husband is focused on business. “I tell him to do something baseball-related, but I think he has a dream of his own.” Kim explained, “If I go to the U.S., I’d have to wrap up everything here and basically live apart from my family as a long-distance dad. That makes me hesitate.”
He shared that he plans to give the business about five years. Han supported him, saying, “We didn’t really discuss or negotiate this, but we’re in the same boat―so I hope it goes well.”
She added, “He once told me, ‘Honestly, if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have gotten married―and if I hadn’t gotten married, I might’ve died alone somewhere.’ At the time I thought, why say something that extreme? But I realized our marriage could’ve been a turning point that influenced him for the better.”
Kim Byung-hyun opened up, “I lived alone, and it was hard. I even doubted the one thing I did best―baseball―so my prime was short. I struggled with anger and wandered a lot. During that tough time, I met a good person, decided to play baseball again, and started thinking positively.”
He continued, “I’m sorry I’m not good at expressing myself. We’ve ridden life’s waves together. Even if it’s frustrating to be with a man who can’t express his feelings well, I hope you can understand.”
Han said, “I want to cheer him on. My heart aches thinking how hard it must’ve been. I’m just thankful. I can be immature, but he’s deep. I hope his wishes and dreams lead to great results.” Kim thanked his wife, closing the moment on a heartfelt note.
