SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama "Phantom Lawyer" (Kim Ga-young and Kang Cheol-gyu; director Shin Jung-hoon) follows a “possessed” lawyer, Shin I-rang (Yoo Yeon-seok), who boldly resolves the grudges of the dead, and a cold-blooded elite attorney, Han Na-hyun (Esom), who lives to win cases. The images released on the 12th spotlight their strange-but-irresistible pairing―and instantly spike anticipation.
In the stills, the two face off with palpable tension. Shin I-rang listens to ghosts and defends unseen truths―even the wronged feelings they leave behind. Han Na-hyun trusts only what’s right in front of her, chasing victories through evidence and logic. Sharing the same space and cases yet drawing starkly different conclusions, these lawyers seem destined to clash rather than join forces. The question is how they’ll shake each other’s worlds.
But opposites attract―and their different skill sets spark surprising synergy. As they inch closer to the heart of each eerie case, Han Na-hyun, who never believed in ghosts, is forced to confront Shin I-rang’s world of the divine. She gradually becomes his strongest ally. Watching their collision and doubt evolve into trust and teamwork forms the show’s central engine―delivering both tension and fun.
“The contrast between a lawyer who sees ghosts and one who doesn’t is the most intuitive way to define their relationship,” the production team said. “As they work through cases, clashes, cracks, and unexpected empathy ignite a ‘possessed chemistry’ that powers this grudge-resolving adventure.” They added, “Yoo Yeon-seok and Esom bring completely different energies, and the tension and rhythm they create together will heighten immersion.”
